Like Munich in '72, different coloured bands were utilised to identify the different days of the week to which the ticket applied:
Thursday - Blue
Friday - Green
Saturday - Yellow
Sunday - Red
Monday - Orange
Wednesday - Grey
As so many Games' before, the tickets were printed on banknote quality, specially reinforced, paper. Distinctive watermarks in the shape of the emblem of the Games and the year were included in several tints. Other precautions included coloured "security threads" as used in banknotes, bearing micro-printed Olympic rings, which alternated the Olympic year.
The tickets were also the largest (yet) produced for an Olympic Games, being 110 by 170 mm.
