1956 - Melbourne

... unless you were an equestrian spectator, in which case these were the Stockholm Games once again.

The Melbourne Games of 1956 are second only to Mexico City 1968 for the number of different colour variations utilised. Whilst the base designs remained the same, different colour combinations were used for each day of the Games. Given that this applied to both the reserved seating and the turnstile tickets, some 18 tickets are required to complete the full set of basic tickets. I have been able to complete the reserved seating collection, but not the turnstile selection.

One element which differs quite significantly between the tickets for these Games and those of every other are that the content of the back of the ticket depended upon the location of your seat.

All Venues Pass

The All Venues Pass for the Lower Pavilion has a blue band across the centre. I was seconds away from owning one, until I was pipped to the post during an internet auction
